5th Seongnam System Semiconductor Academy 2026
Seongnam City/Industry Cooperation, System Semiconductor Professional Training Full Support and Employment Link, and Gyeonggi-do/Seongnam City Cooperation Human Resources Development Model
Gachon University held the '5th Seongnam System Semiconductor Academy Admissions Ceremony in 2026' at the 233 Semiconductor University on the 6th and began the system semiconductor professional training curriculum in earnest.
About 50 people attended the event, including officials from partner organizations such as Seongnam City Hall, the Korea Fabless Industry Association, and the Semiconductor Engineering Association, as well as trainees and professors from Gachon University, to celebrate the new start of the 5th trainees.
Starting with the opening and guest introduction, the entrance ceremony was followed by a welcoming speech by Kim Yong-seok, head of the semiconductor education center at Gachon University, a congratulatory speech by Cho Il-ho, director of the semiconductor department at Seongnam City Hall, and an encouraging speech by Jang Young-beom, professor emeritus of the semiconductor engineering association, followed by Cho Sung-bo, who presented the admission certificate to the representative of the trainees. Professor Oh Hyun-seok then introduced the academy's operation and curriculum and explained the future direction of education.
Seongnam System Semiconductor Academy is a talent training project promoted by Gyeonggi Province and Seongnam City, and is operated with the aim of training professionals in the fabless field, which is the core of the system semiconductor industry. The fifth curriculum will be held for about six months from May to October, and theory and practical training centered on digital design experts will be conducted in parallel.
Education consists of semiconductor design basics and practical curriculum such as digital design, application and AI-based design education, and field-type education is conducted using lecture rooms and nanofab practice facilities at Gachon University Semiconductor University.
In particular, all trainees will be provided with up to 270,000 won per month in training allowance along with full support for education expenses, and learning support such as personal laptop rental and textbooks will be provided. In addition, it is characterized by supporting employment after completion through connection with fabless and semiconductor small manager companies.
Thirty trainees selected through document and interview screening participated in the 5th course, and they are also contributing to fostering regional-based semiconductor talents by selecting unemployed Gyeonggi-do residents.
Gachon University plans to continue to expand education in the system semiconductor field based on cooperation with local governments and industries and strengthen its role as a base for nurturing practical talents who will lead the semiconductor industry.
