About:

The Complex Oxide Semiconductor Laboratory explores oxide materials composed of metals and oxygen, aiming to discover and control novel physical properties that are difficult to realize in conventional silicon-based semiconductors. Our main research interests include transparent conductivity for future semiconductor technologies, metal–insulator transitions, ferroelectricity, magnetic properties, and high electron mobility. Using epitaxial thin-film growth, our laboratory synthesizes novel oxide semiconductor materials with precisely designed thicknesses, layer structures, and crystalline structures. Much like stacking Lego blocks layer by layer, we control material structures at the atomic scale and tailor lattice defects and interfacial structures to realize future semiconductor devices based on emergent physical properties.
