Gachon University Dispatches 261 Students to 71 Universities in 20 Countries in Summer Vacation and Second Half of the Year
Expansion of global education programs in Hawaii, the United States, Europe, and Asia
Scholarship of up to 6 million won will be provided, and overseas credits will be recognized
Gachon University will send 261 students to 71 universities in 20 countries from this summer vacation to foster global talents.
Gachon University establishes a network of exchange and cooperation with outstanding universities around the world, operates various overseas dispatch programs, and provides a wide range of international education opportunities to students. In particular, the Hawaii Gachon Global Center was established in Hawaii, USA, for the first time in Korea in 2012, and has continuously supported overseas field-oriented education.
Gachon University will send 72 students to the Hawaii Gachon Elite Course operated by the Hawaii Gachon Global Center in Honolulu, Hawaii during the summer vacation. Students will be dispatched to the country twice from the last week of June to take classes at Hawaii State University and Hawaii Gachon Global Center to improve language skills and participate in cultural experience activities.
It will also send 60 people to short-term overseas class programs run by Ritzmeikan University in Japan, Peking University in China, Taiwan Myungjeon University, University of California, Irvine, University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, University of Malta, and Griffith University in Australia.
Gachon University has signed exchange agreements with 286 universities around the world, including the United States, Europe, and Asia, and operates various overseas dispatch programs.
In the second half of the year, 89 students will be sent to overseas universities through exchange and visiting student programs. The universities included universities ranked within the top 250 in the QS world university rankings, including the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Deakin in Australia, and the University of Sapienza in Italy.
By language, English △ Fullerton, California State University in the United States, Guelph University in Canada, University of London in the United Kingdom, Adammitziewicz University in Poland, Griffith University in Australia, Japanese △ Teikyo University, Mejiro University, Chinese △ Peking University, Hangzhou Normal University, and Myungjeon University will also be selected and dispatched. Forty participants from the Hawaii Gachon Premium Course operated by the Gachon Global Center will also be selected and dispatched.
Gachon University provides scholarships of up to 6 million won depending on the program to support students' overseas learning, and credits acquired from dispatched universities are also recognized as the main credit. The dispatched students were selected through document screening, in-depth personality interviews, and English interviews that comprehensively evaluate credits, official language scores, and participation in international programs.
Vice-President Yoon Won-joong said, "Overseas dispatch is a valuable experience to set goals, challenge, and grow on their own in a new environment," adding, "I hope students will experience various cultures and people, develop global capabilities and international perspectives, and grow into global talents representing Gachon University."
